Obituary for Cynthia "Cindy" L. Bursaw
Cynthia “Cindy” L. Bursaw, age 60, of Mapleton, Iowa, passed away on Monday, July 30, 2018, at the Mercy Medical Center of Sioux City, Iowa.

A Prayer Service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Friday, August 3, 2018, at the Armstrong-Van Houten Funeral Home of Mapleton, Iowa. Pastor Jena Manchester will officiate. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday, August 3, 2018, at the Armstrong-Van Houten Funeral Home of Mapleton, Iowa. The Armstrong - Van Houten Funeral Home of Mapleton, Iowa is in charge of the funeral arrangements.

Cynthia “Cindy” L. Bursaw was born July 22, 1958, in Minneapolis, MN, the daughter of Philip and Donna (Anez) Bursaw. Cindy grew up in Sunrise, MN and attended North Branch High School graduating with the class of 1976. She then attended Cambridge Community College where she received an Associate’s Degree in Accounting.

Cindy was blessed with four children: Pat, Brandi, Joe and Roman. The family made their home in Rush City, MN, where Cindy was employed as an accountant at Cambridge Community College. Her true love was cooking and she eventually left the accounting field and worked as a cook in various resorts, restaurants, and nursing homes. In 1998, Cindy moved to Mapleton, IA and was employed as a preschool aide at MVAO Elementary. She also served as a dietician at Maple Heights Nursing Home and most recently was employed at Caseys.

Cindy loved spending time with her family and grandchildren. She enjoyed reading, cooking and gardening. She will be remembered for her kind, compassionate and caring heart as well as her generosity towards others.

Left to cherish her memory include her children: Pat (Terri) Bursaw of Pine City, MN, Brandi (Brandon) Bootsma of Melvin, IA, Joe Chessey of St. Cloud, MN and Roman Link of Mapleton, IA; 9 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren; brothers Dan Bursaw of St. Cloud, MN and Tom Bursaw of St. Croix Falls, WI; sisters Elena Bursaw of Shakopee, MN, Terry Bursaw of Shakopee, MN and Lori (Paul) Silcher of Princeton, MN; brother-in-law Jerry Stahl of North Branch, MN.

She was preceded in death by her parents Philip and Donna Bursaw; sister Bonnie Stahl.
