Bessie Mae Corbin, 96, of Smithland, Iowa, died Friday, February 5, 1993, at Maple Heights Care Center in Mapleton, Iowa.

She was born April 22, 1896, at Westfield, Iowa, daughter of Edward and Emma (Petty) Pendleton. On November 5, 1919, she married Charles O. Corbin at Battle Creek, Iowa. They moved to Smithland in 1936. She lived at Maple Heights Care Center for the past nine years.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, the Cemetery Association and the Birthday Club.

Survivors include: I son and his wife, Charles and Ruth Corbin of Smithland; 1 son-in-law, Earl Hines of Smithland; 1 sister, Mrs. Ray (Edna) Oberreuter of Danbury; 3 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Ellen Hines; twin sons, Bobbie and Billie, 3 sisters and 2 brothers.

Services were held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, February 8, 1993 at the United Methodist Church at Smithland with Rev. Karen Dearchs officiating. The organist, Mrs. Ellen Harbeck, accompanied the soloist, Margaret Maynard in the selections “The Old Rugged Cross” and “Beautiful Isle of Somewhere.”

Bearers were Larry Hahne, Gary Hahne, Myron Corbin, Alvin Corbin, Mary Corbin and Tim Oberreuter.

Interment was in the Little Sioux Township Cemetery at Smithland, Iowa with arrangements by the Willman Funeral Home, Rodney, Iowa.
