Family and friends remember MV graduate

Loren R. Myers, age 47, of Lawton, Iowa, and formerly of Mapleton, Iowa, died unexpectedly Friday, February 9, 2001, at his home in Lawton. Services were held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 13 at the Community Presbyterian Church in Lawton with Rev. Wayne Peach officiating. Burial was in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Mapleton.

Cindy Klunker was the pianist for the service and music was "The Dance" and "If You Could See Me Now". A prayer service was held at 7:00 p.m. Monday at the Armstrong Funeral Home in Mapleton.

Loren Ray Myers was born May 17, 1953 in Mapleton, Iowa, the son of Lloyd Sr. and Donna (Ruchti) Myers. He graduated from Maple Valley High School in 1971, and went on to graduate from Western Iowa Tech Community College as an Ag Mechanic. He married Teresa Wilson June 24, 1978 in Lawton, making their home in Mapleton. They moved to Lawton in May of 1979.

Mr. Myers worked for his father driving semis, Collins Implement in Mapleton, Mark's Equipment in Sioux City, Weinrich Truck Lines in Hinton and was currently employed at Specialized Hauling in Sioux City.

He had been an active member of the Mapleton Jaycees, an avid bowler and bowled on various leagues. He was also in various horse related activities, past president of the Lawton Saddle Club. He also rode in the arena race at various rodeos with the Lawton Saddle Club team and later for the Theo's Arena Race team.

He was a member of the Community Presbyterian Church in Lawton.

Those survivors left to cherish Loren's memory include his wife, Teresa of Lawton; a son, Cody Myers and a daughter. Lacy Myers, living at home in Lawton; his mother, Donna Myers of Mapleton, Iowa; two brothers and their wives, Lloyd Jr. and Wanita Myers of Onawa, Iowa and Lowell and Veta Myers of Springfield, Missouri and a sister and her husband, Laura and Don Martz of Ute, Iowa; two nephews, Kenneth Myers and J.R. Martz; five nieces, Elisha Renken, Candace, Marie and Ericka Myers, and Jessi Martz; and a great nephew, Logan Levi Fite.

He was preceded in death by his father, Lloyd Myers Sr., one sister, Loretta and one brother, Leslie.

Honorary pallbearers were Troy Aspleaf, L. Roger Olson, Bob Rounds, Mike Riley, Jessi Martz, J.R. Martz, Kenneth Myers, Elisha Renken, Candace Myers, Ericka Myers, Marie Myers, Rashelle Wilson, Megan Wilson, Dade Wilson, Sally Wilson, Molly Wilson, Connor Riley, Daniel Riley, Ethan Riley, Jennifer Wilson, Jeff Hill and Rebecca Wilson.

Pallbearers were Lloyd Myers, Lowell Myers, Rick Wilson, Chauncey Wilson, Rob Wilson and Jim Wilson.
