Betty J. Rohde 1936 – 1986

Mapleton, Iowa – Mrs. Betty J. Rohde, 49, of Mapleton died Thursday in a Sioux City hospital after long illness.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Mapleton. Vicar Steven Hulke will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Sioux City. A prayer service will be at 7:30 p.m. today in the Walter Funeral Home in Mapleton.

Mrs. Rohde, the former Betty Howard was born May 1, 1936 at Sac City. She attended Sac City schools and later moved to Mapleton where she graduated from High School in 1954. She married Richard Rohde August 14, 1955 at Mapleton. The couple lived in the Mapleton Community. He died June 10, 1974.

Mrs. Rohde was a member of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church.

Survivors include two sons, Jeffrey and Craig, both of Mapleton; two daughters, Jeannie Boisen and Cindy Swearingen, both of Sioux City; a brother, Russell of Cedar Falls, a sister, Mrs. Duane (Vivian) Clark of Iowa Falls and three grandchildren.
