Leona L. Goslar, 93, of Ute, passed away Sunday, April 22, 2018, at Maple Heights Nursing Home in Mapleton, Iowa.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Ute. The Rev. Chris LaBoube will officiate. Burial will be in St. Clair Township Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Armstrong-Van Houten Funeral Home in Ute.

Leona Lucille Goslar, the daughter of Henry and Marie (Seils) Klaus, was born on the family farm, on Oct. 1, 1924, in Willow Township, Crawford County, Iowa. She was baptized into the Lutheran faith on Oct. 26, 1924, and confirmed on April 3, 1938, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Ute. Leona grew up on the family farm and graduated from Ute High School with the class of 1942.

On July 14, 1946, Leona married Phillip Goslar at St. John's Lutheran Church in Charter Oak, Iowa. Leona and Phillip were blessed with three children, Gary, Connie and Mark.

Leona was a devoted Christian, homemaker, farm wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She enjoyed gardening (especially her flowers), canning, and spending time with her family.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Gary (Sally) Goslar of Ute, Connie Keating of Charter Oak, and Mark Goslar of Ute; six grandchildren, Tina (Clint) Sachau, Shawn (Julie) Goslar, Mindy (Duane) Boyle, Missy (Keith) Crawford, Cole Goslar, and Morgan Goslar; eight great-grandchildren, Micah, Skylar, Carter, Madison, Mya, Lincoln, Bryli, Brenna, and one on the way; sisters, Agnes Goodner of Harlan, Iowa, Delores Stephenson of Denison, Iowa, and Lucille Kruse of Denison; special caregiver and friend, Missy Malone; and extended family and friends.

Leona was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Marie Klaus; husband, Phillip Goslar on Nov. 9, 2009; brother, Ervin Klaus; sisters, Esther (Charles) Behrendson, and Helen (Raymond) Boettger; brothers-in-law, Keith Goodner, Wayne Stephenson, and Ralph Kruse.
