Floyd O. “Deacon” Allen, 80, of Onawa, died Monday, March 5, 2018, at a care center in Onawa.

Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at the Rush Family Chapel in Onawa with the Rev. Michael Lewis officiating. Burial will be in the Onawa Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Friday at the chapel. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service, Onawa. Floyd Oneal Allen was born Jan. 1, 1938, the son of Robert Harrison and Helen Mae (Moore) Allen. He grew up and attended school in Onawa. After school, Floyd moved to Nebraska, where he worked various jobs. In 1966, he moved back to Onawa.

Floyd and Patty Ann Young were united in marriage on March 23, 1966, in Onawa.

Floyd worked as a machinist for several companies, including Wilson Trailer, Move All, LaBlanc and Saber. Floyd retired from Saber and was always a loyal employee. He was an avid fisherman who could always stop to talk about fishing. He also did leather work, making several pieces of artwork, billfolds and belts. He enjoyed playing cards, watching westerns and golf on TV, and was an honest and outgoing man.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Patty Allen of Onawa; his children, Lorraine (Edward Thomas) Hittle of Africa, Sandra (Bertrum) Carroll of Reno, Nev., Eric (Kellie) Allen of St. Cloud, Minn., Troy (Winter Laughlin) Allen of Turin, Iowa, and Floyd Allen Jr. of Nebraska; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Sandra (Terry) Hedum of Ankeny, Iowa, June Ottman of Onawa, and Joyce Allen of Shenandoah, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Helen; brother, Raymond Meeker; sister, Dora Ham; and infant sister, Rose Allen.
