James Monroe Farris, 87, 3221 Linn Street, who for 63 years resided near Whiting, Iowa, died in a hospital here Thursdau, after a brief illness.

Born October 7, 1859, at Proctorville, Ohio, Mr. Farris came to Iowa at the age of 21 and resided most of his life at Maple Landing, near Whiting. He had been a residence of Sioux City the last three years, living with a nephew, Edward T. Farris.

Mr. Farris was unmarried. Surviving are several nieces and nephews.

The body was taken to Manning’s Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Christian Church at Whiting, Iowa for James M Farris, Jr., 87, 3221 Linn Street, who died in a hospital here Thursday. Rev. Mr. Cochran will officiate. Burial will be in the Harrison Cemetery near Whiting. The Manning Funeral Home will be in charge.
