BLENCOE, Iowa -- Helen Nadean Brooks, 88, of Onawa, Iowa, died Saturday, May 17, 2003, at Elmwood Care Centre in Onawa.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Rush Family Care Service, with the Rev. Dennis Olsen officiating. Burial will be in Onawa Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Helen was born Aug. 13, 1914, in Blencoe, the daughter of Harry and Nellie (Riley) Morehead. She was a lifelong resident of the Blencoe area.

She married Lawrence V. Brooks on Nov. 29, 1933, in Onawa. Lawrence passed away Oct. 19, 1988.

She was a former member of Ashton's Women's Club and Willing Workers.

Survivors include two daughters and their husbands, Sharon and Don White of Onawa, and JoAnn and Stan Roseberry of Hiawassee, Ga.; seven grandchildren, Jeff Roseberry of Nashville, Tenn., Mike Roseberry of East Point, Ga., Rick Roseberry of Atlanta, Ga., Dawn King of Onawa, Dee Hawthorne of Blacksburg, Va., Doug White of Ida Grove, Iowa, and Dennis White of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; nine great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by an infant brother, Riley Morehead; and a great-granddaughter, Angela Ellis.
