BLENCOE, Iowa -- Edwin F. Zima, 86, of Blencoe died Sunday, May 25, 2003, at Burgess Health Center in Onawa, Iowa.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Rush Family Care Service in Onawa, with the Rev. John Noer officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Blencoe. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. with the Rev. Harry D. McAlpine officiating, all at the funeral home.

Edwin was born Nov. 26, 1916, in David City, Neb., the son of Joseph and Agnes (Divis) Zima. He attended David City High School.

He was united in marriage to Hermine Chaloupka on Jan. 4, 1941, in Wilbur, Neb. Together, they farmed the family farm north of Blencoe. Hermine passed away May 18, 1976, in Onawa.

He loved the outdoors, was an avid hunter and fisherman, enjoyed farm animals and all types of wildlife. He was a former member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles 2270.

Survivors include three sons and their wives, David and Susan, Danny and Rhee and Doug and Pauline, all of Onawa; a daughter and her husband, Diann and Bobby Kaerwer of El Paso, Texas; 10 grandchildren, David, Mathew, Zachary, Kassie, Theresa, Gary, Leo and Phillip Zima and Sean and Kevin Kaerwer; three great-grandchildren; three great-stepgrandchildren; a brother and his wife, Raymond and Eleanor of David City; two sisters, Elsie Simodynes of David City, and Lucille Pierson of Lincoln, Neb.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and an infant grandson, Joseph Douglas.
