WHITING, Iowa -- Doris Maurine (Plummer) Thompson, 83, of Whiting died Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2004, at Pleasant View Nursing Home in Whiting.

Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel in Sioux City, with Mark McGlohon of Bethel Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Westfork Township Cemetery, Climbing Hill, Iowa. Visitation will be 11 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home.

Doris was born June 8, 1921, in Oto, Iowa, the daughter of Ivel L. and Iva B. (Coon) Hayworth. She grew up and attended school in Oto.

She married Glen Plummer on Dec. 29, 1937, in Elk Point, S.D. The couple farmed in the Oto, Hornick and Climbing Hill, Iowa area until 1957, when they moved to Sioux City. She worked as a nurses aide at St. Joseph's Hospital in Sioux City. Glen died May 31, 1959.

She later married Donald Thompson on July 8, 1961. The couple lived in Sioux City. Donald died Oct. 20, 1963.

Survivors include three sons, Warren Plummer and his wife, Janice of Hornick, Iowa, Gene Plummer of Whiting and Danny Thompson and his wife, Lori of Rowlett, Texas; two sisters, Maxine Dicks and Phyllis and her husband, Leonard Dowling, all of Hornick; a sister-in-law, Delores Hayworth of Garner, Iowa; a special friend, Ralph Hempey of Sioux City; six grandsons, Tom Plummer of Lake City, Iowa, Tim, Todd and Terry Plummer, all of Hornick and Donny and Drew Thompson of Rowlett, Texas; and two great-grandchildren, Lee and Sarah Plummer, both of Lake City, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; a brother, Norman Hayworth; and a brother-in-law, Leo Dicks.

Pallbearers will be Tom, Tim and Todd Plummer, Frank Dowling, Terry Plummer and Steve Dicks. Honorary pallbearers will be Lee and Sarah Plummer and Donny and Drew Thompson.
