ONAWA, Iowa -- Lorna Pounds, 82, of Onawa died Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2004, at her residence following a lengthy illness.

Memorial services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Community of Christ Church in Pisgah, Iowa, Evangelist John Lizer officiating. Burial will be in Spring Valley Cemetery, Moorhead, Iowa. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service in Onawa.

Lorna was born May 3, 1922, in Pisgah, Iowa, the daughter of Earl and Lela Mae (Conyers) Mann. She was raised in the Pisgah area and graduated from Pisgah High School.

She moved to California, where she was a waitress and later married William W. Pounds on March 23, 1946, in Las Vegas, Nev. The couple lived in Long Beach, LaHabra and Whittier, Calif., where she was a waitress, before moving to Fort Collins, Colo. After Bill's death on May 4, 1974, she moved to Onawa.

Survivors include two sons, Harry and Lester, both of Onawa; a daughter, Donna of Onawa; a grandson and his wife, Tyson and Erica Pounds; a granddaughter, Shawntel Pounds; a great-grandson, Tyler Pounds; a sister and her husband, Wanda and Daryl Glasser of Onawa; and several nieces and nephews including Nancy McCord of Pisgah.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Donna Johnson; and three brothers, Ted, Clint and Lloyd.
