WHITING, Iowa -- Wanda I. Godsey, 91, of Whiting died suddenly Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2004, at Burgess Health Center in Onawa, Iowa.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Community Church of Christ in Sloan, Iowa, with Dr. Emery Killian officiating. Burial will be in Sloan Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today, with an Order of the Eastern Star service at 7 p.m., at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service in Onawa, Iowa.

Wanda was born Aug. 29, 1913, in Whiting, the daughter of James A. and Nellie K. (Koontz) Folwell. She was raised in the Whiting area and graduated from Whiting High School in 1933.

She married Lloyd Godsey on June 6, 1934, in Onawa. The couple farmed in the Whiting and Sloan areas. Lloyd passed away May 29, 1987, in Sioux City.

She was a member of Community Church of Christ and a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a member of Athena Chapter 460 OES in Sloan and served as a Worthy Matron in 1962. She currently was a member of Queen Esther Chapter 222 OES in Onawa. She helped organize a Rainbow Assembly in Sloan and served as Mother Advisor. She was fond of animals, especially her dog, Bear.

Survivors include a son, Lanny of Whiting; and two nephews, Robert Matthews Sr. of Des Moines and Armand Matthews and his wife, JoAnn of Kansas City, Mo.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by an infant son; an infant daughter; two sisters, Ardis Folwell and Louise Matthews; and an infant brother, Bruce.
