2 November 2004SALIX, Iowa -- Mary "Ellie" Lamoureux, 91, of Salix died Monday, Nov. 1, 2004, at Pleasant View Care Center in Whiting, Iowa.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Salix, with the Rev. Donald J. Slaven officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, with a Christian wake service at 7 p.m., at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service in Onawa, Iowa.
Mary was born Oct. 30, 1913, in Salix, the daughter of Maurice and Mae (Beaubien) Mulvihill. She was raised in the Salix area and graduated from Salix High School. She was an assistant postmaster at Salix Post Office.
She married William Henry Lamoureux on Nov. 24, 1956, in Salix. He died May 14, 1986.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Tabernacle Society.
Survivors include five stepdaughters, Mary Louise Kallin of Ida Grove, Iowa, Rosalie Wilt of Whiting, Iowa, Charlotte and her husband, Harold Mook of Arlington, Tenn., Shirley Copple of Sloan, Iowa, and Jean Ann and her husband, Kenneth Heidbrink of Le Mars, Iowa; two stepsons and their wives, Walter and Pauline Lamoureux of Omaha and Duane "Duke" and Patricia Lamoureux of Sioux City; many stepgrandchildren and great-stepgrandchildren; two brothers, Louis Mulvihill of Sioux City and Pat Mulvihill and his wife, Millie of Salix; three sisters, Marian Terry of Grand Island, Neb., Ann Hungerford of Salix and Edith Powell of Derby, Kan.; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Grace; and two brothers, Mike and James.
