ONAWA, Iowa -- Mark Michael Gingles, 44, of Onawa died at his residence from complications during an epileptic seizure.

Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at First Congregational United Church of Christ in Onawa, with the Rev. John Noer officiating. Burial will be in Kennebec Cemetery, rural Castana, Iowa. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service of Onawa.

Mark was born Jan. 23, 1960, in Long Beach, Calif., the son of Donald and Marilyn (Wright) Gingles. He graduated from the Department of Defense High School in Naples Italy. He attended college at the University of Maryland, European Campus, Munich, Germany.

He enjoyed and wrote extensive journals sharing his experiences with friends and relatives, of his travels throughout both Europe and the United States. He settled in Onawa in 1999. He enjoyed walking and riding his bike throughout Onawa. He volunteered at Act II and enjoyed visiting and having coffee with all of his acquaintances.

Survivors include his parents of Palm Coast, Fla.; a sister and her husband, Denise and Tom O'Keefe and their children, Robert, Christopher and Katherine of LaFayette, Calif.; and a sister and her husband, Dana and Mark Vernon and their children, Joshua, Madison and Mayson of Iowa City, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Dr. and Mrs. Earl Gingles of Onawa; and maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Wright of Dekalb, Ill.
