Folwell L. "Lanny" Godsey, 83, of Whiting, Iowa, passed away on Friday, December 15, 2017 at Pleasant View Care Center in Whiting.

Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, December 19, 2017, at Community Church of Christ, Sloan, with Dr. Emery Killian officiating. Masonic Services led by Attica Lodge AF & AM #502 of Sloan will follow the service. Burial will follow in the Sloan Cemetery. Visitation will be 9:30 A.M. until service time Tuesday, December 19, 2017, at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service in Onawa, Iowa.

Folwell Lander Godsey was born on December 4, 1934, at Mrs. Lindscott's home in Sloan, Iowa, the son of Lloyd and Wanda (Folwell) Godsey. He spent his early years in the Sloan and Whiting areas. He moved with his parents to Mapleton, Iowa, when he was a freshman in high school, and graduated from there.

He was employed in Omaha, Nebraska, by Physicians Laboratory and Nebraska Methodist Hospital as a medical technician for forty years, retiring in 2000.

He became a Mason on December 27, 1963, in Mizpak Lodge #302 AF & AM in Omaha, Nebraska. He was a Past Master and a fifty-year member of that lodge. When he returned to the Whiting area in 2000, he became a dual member of Attica Lodge #502 AF & AM of Sloan, Iowa.

There are no surviving family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister and one brother in infancy; two aunts, Louise Matthews and Ardis Folwell; and one cousin, Jackie Arnold.
