Dorothy Lindley, 87, of Onawa, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, December 14, 2017, at her residence, with her loving husband by her side.

Memorial services will be 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 20, 2017, at the Rush Family Chapel in Onawa, with Pastor Michael Lewis officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service in Onawa.

Dorothy Mae was born on January 26, 1930, in Turin, Iowa, the youngest of twelve children, to Fred and Faye (Maxwell) Stanton. She graduated from Blencoe High School in 1947. She graduated from WITCC as a Microprocesser Specialist with honors in 1985. She retired from Western Hills AEA 12 in 1995.

Dorothy and Calvin Ooten were united in marriage. Dorothy and Jack Lindley were united in marriage on February 9, 1965, in Onawa, Iowa.

Dorothy was a member of the NEA, served on Advisory Board of the Monona County Board of Health, and was a correspondent for the Sioux City Journal.

Dorothy was an avid reader and writer. She enjoyed quilting, knitting, crocheting, and embroidering. She had a passion for traveling, especially the oceans and mountains. She was an excellent cook. She was a strong generous woman. She was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan.

Dorothy was baptized into the First Christian Church in 1963.

Survivors include her husband, Jack Lindley of Onawa, IA; her children, Fred Ooten of Onawa, IA, Mike (Debi) Ooten of Oregon, Chuck (Crystal) Ooten of Oregon, Randy Ooten of Oregon, Paul (Donna) Lindley of Mundelein, IL, and Diane Lindley Chadwick of Texas, many loved grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Faye Stanton; son, Greg Ooten; two brothers, Alex Stanton and George Stanton; three sisters who died in infancy, Faye Stanton, Mary Stanton, and Doris Stanton; and sisters, Fern Perkins, Bessie Farwell, Myra Henneous, Hazel Stewart, Lenore Ooten, and Helen Hendricks.
