Mrs. Lee Heck
Mrs. Lee Heck, 63, of Rodney, Iowa, died on Wednesday, September 17, 1980, in a Sioux City hospital. Services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 20, in the United Church of Christ at Rodney. The Rev. Dale Church officiated. Burial was in the Smithland Cemetery under the direction of the Walter Funeral Home at Mapleton.
Mrs. Heck, the former Vera Marie Ferdig, was born on November 20, 1916, to Harry and Cora Mae (Haessig) Ferdig, at Smithland, Iowa. She was married on August 21, 1937, at Elk Point, South Dakota, to Lee Heck.
She lived in the Mapleton and Rodney area most of her life. Mrs. Heck was serving her third term on the Rodney Town Council. She was a member of the Royal Neighbors of Mapleton and she was active with the senior citizens.
Survivors include the widower; two sisters, Mrs. Clair (Josephine) Hewitt of Rodney and Mrs. Opal Barlar of El Cerrito, California; two brothers, Robert of Sparta, Missouri and Raymond of Fremont, California; and two granddaughters.
She is preceded in death by one son, Larry and her parents, two brothers and three sisters.
Pallbearers were James Cleveland, William Fouts, Oscar Hanson, James McDonald, Dwain Schmidt and James
