Services held for longtime MV Industrial Arts teacher

Cleo M. Tippery, age 78, of Mapleton, Iowa, passed away suddenly Monday, November 22, 2004 at a Sioux City hospital. Cleo was born October 15, 1926 at Walthill, Nebraska, the son of Merton and Esther (Edgington) Tippery. He was raised in Walthill and graduated from Walthill High School in 1944. He served in the United States Army during World War II in the Asiatic Pacific Campaign and later' received his degree in education from Wayne State College in 1951. Cleo and Guyleen Boggs were united in marriage August 16, 1951 at Walthill. Nebraska and they made their home in Stuart, Nebraska where he taught school for three years. The couple moved to Mapleton where Cleo taught industrial arts at Maple Valley High School for 32 years until his retirement. He was a member of St John's United Methodist Church and Loren Hollister American Legion Post #496.

Survivors include his wife, Guyleen, two daughters and their husbands, Lynne and Dr. Patrick Foy of Minneapolis, Minnesota and Teresa and Thomas Peavler of Omaha, Nebraska; two granddaughters, Sarah and Katherine Foy of Minneapolis, a niece and her husband, Carole and Bob Elliott of Sun Lakes, Arizona, and a great-niece and her husband, Dawn and Steve Elliott and their three children of Lincoln, Nebraska.

He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son, Guy Edward, and a sister and her husbands, Ferne and Albert Boughn and Rey Decker.

Memorial services were 11:00 a. m. Friday, November 26, 2004 at St John's United Methodist Church, Mapleton, with Pastor Fred Pilecki officiating. Music selections were the congregation singing, "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Amazing Grace" with Marie Whiteing, organist. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Mapleton at a later date.

Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service. Onawa, Iowa.
