CASTANA, Iowa -- Edna F. Kenney, 78, of Castana died Friday, Sept. 23, 2005, at Pleasant View Care Center in Whiting, Iowa.

Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Rush Family Care Service in Onawa, Iowa, with the Rev. Dennis Olsen officiating. Burial will be in Sloan Cemetery, Sloan, Iowa. There will be no visitation.

Edna Fern was born Feb. 11, 1927, in Albaton, Iowa, the daughter of William and Emma (Kinkel) Cook. She lived most of her life in the Sloan area and attended Sloan Public School.

She married Willard Kenney on July 3, 1945. The couple made their home in the Sloan area, where they raised their family. She was employed at Wincharger and Zenith in Sioux City, East End Gas Station in Onawa, Iowa, Connely Marketing in South Sioux City and MCI in Sergeant Bluff. She also was a caregiver to several elderly ladies in the Whiting and Onawa areas.

Survivors include a daughter, Billie of Castana; two sons and their wives, Ray and Dorthy Kenney of Beemer, Neb., and Charles and Renee Kenney of Onawa; four grandchildren, Wade, Mariah, Matthew and Amanda Kenney; a special granddaughter, Dawn Lamb and her children; and four sisters, Elsie Fuller of Farmington, N.M., Arleigh Keil of Sioux City and Ellen DeWeese and Eva Dahl, both of Portland, Ore.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Les, Ralph and Walt Cook; and three sisters, Alice Kipp, Tillie Hughey and Connie Parsley.
