HOLSTEIN, Iowa -- Edgar Carl Ludwig Wilhem Klaus, 84, of Holstein passed away Monday, Aug. 22, 2005, at Holstein Good Samaritan Center.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Holstein, with the Rev. Curtis Benson officiating. Burial will be in St. Clair Cemetery, Ute, Iowa. Visitation will be 10 a.m. until service time Thursday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Barker Funeral Home in Holstein.

Edgar was born Nov. 22, 1920, in rural Charter Oak, Iowa, to George and Laura (Nickoli) Klaus. He was baptized Dec. 12, 1920, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Ute, Iowa, and confirmed April 14, 1935. He attended rural school and Lutheran school.

He was employed by area farmers around Ricketts, Iowa, then he was employed by Holstein Lumber Company for quite a few years.

He married Geneva Bertrand in 1976. He spent the last years of his life at Holstein Good Samaritan Center.

He enjoyed his church and being with family. He was known for his memory of everybody's birthday and the year they were born.

He is survived by a brother and his wife, Norman and Mary Klaus of Hawarden, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Mrs. Harold (Gertrude) Trulsen of Ida Grove, Iowa; and a brother, Marvin in infancy.
