Everett Johnson dies of heart attack

Everett Berdett Johnson, the son of Charles and Minnie (Carroll) Johnson was born on September 20, 1907 near Castana, Iowa and died on April 26, 1979 at his home, in Mapleton, of an apparent heart attack.

Mr. Johnson lived in the Castana community until 1932, when he moved with his parents to the Smithland area. On October 24, 1938, he was married to Rose Cady in Sioux City, they farmed near Smithland until 1957 and in 1962 they moved into Mapleton, where he was employed by Leonard Reinbold as a painter.

He is survived by his wife, Rose; 2 sons, John of Sioux City, and Jack of Mapleton; 1 sister, Mrs. Evelyn Crouch of Montpilier, Iowa and 4 grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents and one son Charles Everett.

Services were held on Monday, April 30, 1978 (this is what is typed in the obit) at 10:30 a.m. in the Walter Funeral Chapel in Mapleton. Rev. Homer Perry spoke the words of Comfort and Mrs. Lillian Kuhlmann presented the Message in Music.

Casket bearers were Alva Cook, Robert Buchanan, Leonard Reinbold, Maurice Jensen, Walter Babl and William Hagersdon.

Everett was laid to rest in the Center Cemetery at Castana.
