Rites Planned for Mapleton Serviceman

Mapleton, Iowa – Funeral services for PFC Charles Everett Johnson, 21, will be at 9 a.m. December 15, at St. Matthew Lutheran Church. The Rev. E. E. Greene will officiate. Burial will be in Center Cemetery near Castana under direction of Walter Funeral Home. Military honors will be conducted by Headquarters Company, U.S. Army Garrison from Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas.

PFC Johnson died December 7 in an aircraft land zone came under attack from hostile forces. He was with Air Cavalry, Fifth Division, stationed near Quan Loi.
