Dean W. Coleman, Sr., 71, of Whiting, Iowa, died Friday, June 16, 2017, at his residence.

Memorial services will be 10:30 A.M. Monday, June 19, 2017, at the Rush Family Chapel in Onawa. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service in Onawa.

Dean Warren was born on November 24, 1945, in Omaha, Nebraska, the son of Claude and Billie Maxine (Ranard) VanOsdol. He attended Tech High School in Omaha before enlisting with the United States Marine Corps. He served in the Marine Corps for eight years.

Following his honorable discharge, he worked at Eppley Airfield in Omaha in the janitorial department.

Dean married Theresa Parsons on July 15, 1971, in South Dakota.

He enjoyed watching Westerns and traveling. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans.
Survivors include his wife, Theresa Coleman of Whiting, IA; three children, Lori (Greg) Tubbs of Gretna, NE, Dean (Kelly) Coleman, Jr. of Phoenix, AZ, and Brandi (Kenny) Carritt of Little Sioux, IA; five grandchildren, Zach Tubbs, Dennisha Bonacci, Kirstin Coleman, Kaleb Coleman, and Shaylyn Carritt; and one sister, Claudia Watts of Carter Lake, IA.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Billie Maxine VanOsdol, and one brother, Craig VanOsdol.
