Tammy Marie Baker Dean, 39, of Castana, went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, June 7, 2017.

Memorial services will be 4 p.m. Sunday, June 11, 2017 at Onawa Evangelical Free Church in Onawa, Iowa. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service in Onawa.

Tammy was born on April 22, 1978. She was a woman that could be described by her commitment, her commitment to her Lord, her husband and her children.

Nathan and Tammy became high school sweethearts and life-long soul mates and were married on April 17, 2004 and have been together for 23 years. After attending a Weekend to Remember conference Nathan and Tammy reconfirmed their love for one another as they signed a marriage contract realizing that marriage was a God ordained covenant that they were to honor.

Tammy was employed throughout their marriage in the nursing field, first at Siouxland Health Center, then at Burgess Health Center, and finally at Pleasant View Care in Whiting, Iowa.

Tammy and Nathan's marriage would be blessed with three beautiful children, Axton Eric (Nov. 29, 2000) Avin Michaul (March 16, 2006) and Aizley Marie (March 26, 2008). They would live what they believed to be their dream job as rangers at the Little Sioux Scout Camp. They did this as a team for nine years until tragedy struck the camp in June 11, 2008. The family picked up roots and moved to an acreage outside of Soldier, Iowa, where putting the pieces together after that disaster seemed to be insurmountable. At this time of trial was when they came to know their Lord and Savior for when we are weak He is strong. 2 Cor. 12:9-10.

Tammy was devoted to her children and had recently began homeschooling them. She was very proud of their accomplishments and was always speaking of them and praying for her children's welfare and interests.

Tammy loved the outdoors. This included tending her chickens, sporting her camo for a trip to the deer stand, fishing, or challenging her husband in any kind of contest, that is where she would like to be. She was currently helping coach a Little League baseball team where she could use her gift of encouragement.

Tammy was committed to her church body and was a member at Onawa Evangelical Free Church, where she served occasionally on the praise team as a singer and drummer. She enjoyed working with the teen girls at youth group. It has been remarked that it was interesting the Sunday before her passing that she and Nathan were greeters at the front door.

The part that she played in Bible studies and what she added will be greatly missed. We leave you with this because this is for Tammy and what she is experiencing: 1 John 3:1-2 "See how great a love the Father has bestowed on us, that we would be called children of God; and such we are. For this reason the world does not know us, because it did not know Him (Jesus). Beloved, now we are children of God, and it has not appeared as yet what we will be. We know that when He appears, we will be like Him, because we will see Him Just as He is."

Tammy passed on life to many through organ donation.

She is survived by her husband, Nathan; children, Axton, Avin, and Aizley; her parents, Dale Baker of Carroll Iowa, and Sandy Bryan of Denison Iowa; sister, Amanda Bryan of Denison; grandmothers, Viola Baker of Carroll, and Ruth Blair of Kiron Iowa; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Tammy was preceded in death by her grandparents, Lionel Baker and Andy Blair.
