Obituary Of Gerald W. Adams

Gerald W. Adams was born on his father’s farm near Moorhead, Iowa, February 22, 1903 and passed away at the Lutheran Hospital in Sioux City, January 22, 1936 at the age of 32 years and 11 months.

He attended the Moorhead High School and later attended Iowa State College at Ames, where he studied horticulture.

In 1923 he worked with the Snyder Nursery at Center Point, Iowa. While there he made two trips to St. Louis, Missouri for special horticultural training.

He lived in Moorhead all his life with the exception of the years 1917-18 which he spent in Payetta, Idaho.

On June 11, 1928 he was united in marriage to Edras Lozier.

He is survived by wife, Wanda Lu, his father, Ben Adams; two sisters, Rowena Lamb and Thressa Adams.

Everything known to medical science was used in an effort to save his life. During his illness he was attended by Doctors Johnson of Moorhead, Woolvard of Dunlap, Weir of Woodbine and Doctors Sawyer, Cobb, Larimer and Dvoris and two special nurses all of Sioux City.

On July 18, 1922 he united with the Moorhead Christian Church, where he had since remained faithful and loyal. He served as a member of the official board, an office he honored with faithful efficient service.

He will be greatly missed by the relatives and the many friends of the entire community where his pleasing personality and splendid manhood has so great a part.

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at 2 o’clock from the Moorhead Christian Church with the pastor Rev. M. Dwight Walker in charge, assisted by Rev. Elston. A short service was held at the home at 1:30 at which time Mrs. C.E. Moorhead sang “Beautiful Isle of Somewhere.” At the Church the music was furnished by a quartette consisting of Emil Johnson, Josephine Anderson, Anieta Lindgren and Howard Jepson, with Mrs. Nash at the piano.

The pallbearers were members of the church board, John Neal, Anton Hansen, Fern Neal, Ray Hubbard, George Hull and Hugh Harrison.

Burial was made in the Spring Valley Cemetery.
