Ray K. Summerfield, 80, of Onawa, Iowa died Saturday, April 1, 2017 at Elmwood Care Centre in Onawa, Iowa.

Memorial graveside services will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, April 7, 2017 at the Woodbine Cemetery, Woodbine, Iowa with Pastor Glenn Harless, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service, Onawa, Iowa.

Ray Kenneth Summerfield was born September 24, 1936 in Dunlap, Iowa, the son of Orville and Doyne (Arnold) Summerfield. As a young man he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and had a lifelong interest in cars. He graduated from Dunlap High School in 1955 and because of his gift in mechanical ability he was a lifetime mechanic. He worked for and was the shop foreman for Stangel Brothers' Garage in Onawa, Iowa for many years.

On May 28, 1962, Ray married Marvil Ross at St. John's Catholic Church in Onawa, Iowa. They were blessed with two children, Kenneth Ray and Kathy Anne.

Ray is survived by his son, Ken (Nancy) Summerfield of Papillion, Nebraska; his daughter, Kathy (Ian) Singh of Brandon, Vermont; grandchildren, Meagan, McKenzie, and Madison Summerfield, Sydney, Elyse, and Kiran Singh, and Max (Annie) Christensen; great-grandchildren, Natalie and Avery Christensen; his sister, Fern (Robert) Hansen; sister-in-law, Diane Summerfield; and several nieces, one nephew, and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Orville and Doyne; brothers, Lee (in infancy) and Carl in 2011.
