Elizabeth "Toots" Jeanette Adams passed away on Tuesday, February 21st at Burgess Memorial Hospital in Onawa, IA at the age of 102.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Saturday, March 11, 2017 at the Community Church of Christ in Sloan, Iowa with Dr. Emery Killian officiating. Burial will follow in the Sloan Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 to service time on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service in Onawa.

Elizabeth was born on Oct. 28th, 1914 in Sioux City, IA to Guy L. and Jennie L. (Kinkaid) Blackford. She attended several schools throughout Iowa before moving to Salix, IA in the 6th grade. She graduated from the Salix Consolidated High School in 1933.

On Dec. 5th, 1934 she married William "Kyle" Adams in Sioux City, IA. They had 2 sons, one daughter, and one foster daughter. They resided most of their lives in Sloan, IA. He passed away on Oct. 27th, 1978 in Onawa, IA.

In 1969 Elizabeth graduated from Western Iowa Tech in Sioux City, IA with a one year secretarial degree. She then began working in Sioux City for Pierce Van Lines. She later worked for Sioux City Cold Storage and Flavorland Hide Company, both of Sioux City. She retired in 1976 at age 62.

She was a member of the First Assembly Of God Church in Sioux City for 33 years then in 1993 she joined the First Christian Church in Sloan, IA.

Toots enjoyed gardening, canning, knitting, crocheting, going to church, gospel music, and playing piano. She wrote several Christian songs over the years, as did her daughter, Ginger. She took some additional piano lessons at the age of 70 and learned to put their songs on to score sheets for her to play on the piano. They would then record the music with her playing and Ginger singing. She will long be remembered by family members for her fudge, chocolate chip cookies, chili, goulash, and navy bean soup.

She is survived by her daughter, Ginger Gulick of Sloan, IA, son, Kyle Patrick (Nikki) Adams of East Greenwich, RI, William LaMonte (Rosaline) Adams of Dakota City, NE, foster daughter Judi Corcoran (Ronald) of Hendersen, NV, sister-in-law Irene Blackford of Sioux City, IA, several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and in-laws, brothers; Sid and Casey Blackford, sisters; Lois Gabrielli and Nita Weigel, and two daughter-in-laws.
