ONAWA, Iowa -- Eileen Loretta Koontz, 83, of Onawa died Sunday, Sept. 11, 2005, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Rush Family Care Service in Onawa, with the Rev. Dennis Olsen officiating. Burial will be in Onawa Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Eileen was born Feb. 14, 1922, in Onawa, the daughter of Frank and Nina (Clayton) Koontz. She was raised in Onawa and graduated from Onawa High School in 1940. She worked at Perkins Florist in Onawa and later was secretary at Monona County Conservation Board. She was a life long resident of Onawa until moving to Pleasant View Care Center in Onawa a few years ago.

She was a member of First Christian Church, Queen Esther Chapter 222 of the Order of the Eastern Star, Sunshine Birthday Club and a 50 year member of the Rebekah Lodge.

Survivors include a sister-in-law, Bernice Koontz of Carmel, Calif.; a nephew, Robert James Koontz of Carmel; and a great-niece and great-nephew, Molly and Robert Koontz of Carmel.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Arlo Robert Koontz.
