TURIN, Iowa -- Virgie J. Davis, 70, of Turin passed away Saturday, Feb. 4, 2006, at her home.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at United Methodist Church in Turin, with Pastor Chuck Layton officiating. Burial will be in Belvidere Cemetery, Turin. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Rush Family Care Service in Onawa, Iowa.

Virgie was born April 8, 1935, at Turin, the daughter of John and Ellen (Carlson) Knoff. She attended country school through the fourth grade and then enrolled in Castana Public School, where she graduated in the class of 1953.

Virgie and Donald E. Davis were united in marriage Aug. 27, 1955, at the old Christian Church in Onawa. The couple made their home in Turin. On March 2, 1957, their son, Gregory was born. After graduation, Virgie started working at Onawa State Bank as a teller. Due to ill health, she retired 43 years later as an assistant vice president and cashier.

She was a member of United Methodist Church in Turin. Virgie enjoyed gardening, raising flowers, crocheting and especially enjoyed her home and spoiling her grandchildren, Eric and Brent Davis.

Survivors include her husband, Don of Turin; a son and his wife, Greg and Lisa Davis of Onawa; two grandsons, Eric of Council Bluffs, Iowa and Brent Davis of Onawa; a sister-in-law, Benita Davis of Onawa; two brothers-in-law and their wives, Keith and Alice Davis of Denver, Colo. and Richard and Carrie Ann Davis of Castana, Iowa; as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Everett Knoff and Dale Knoff.
