MAPLETON, Iowa -- Verda V. Lintin, 84, of Mapleton died Friday, Nov. 23, 2007, at Maple Heights Nursing Home in Mapleton.

Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at St. Peter's United Church of Christ in Mapleton. Burial will be in St. Clair Cemetery at Ute, Iowa. Visitation will be after 4 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Armstrong Funeral Home in Mapleton.

Verda Valentine Lintin was born Feb. 14, 1923, at Schleswig, Iowa, the daughter of Charles and Hattie (Hein) Baeth. She grew up and was educated in the Schleswig area. She worked for the Defense Department in Sioux City, and was later employed in Seattle, Wash.

On April 15, 1945, she was united in marriage to John Lintin in the Charles Baeth home. They celebrated 62 years of marriage this year. The couple initially farmed in the Danbury and Battle Creek area, then in the Mapleton area and lastly, near Soldier, Iowa. They moved to Mapleton seven years ago.

Verda was a member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ as well as the Ladies Aid at the church. She was a member of the Sunshine Club, where she enjoyed quilting and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, having served as a past worthy Matron.

Survivors include her husband, John; two sons, James and his companion, Diane Owens of Soldier, and Daniel and his partner, Mikel Hampel of LaCrosse, Wis.; two daughters and their husbands, Nancy and Tom Schroeder of Las Vegas, Nev., and Jean and Ray Bernacchi of Tekamah, Neb.; a daughter-in-law, JoAnn Linton of Onawa, Iowa; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Phyllis Bush of Galva, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, John Charles Lintin.
