C. Allen Jordan, 62, Castana, Iowa, died June 18, 1986, at Burgess Memorial Hospital, Onawa, Iowa, after a one-year illness with cancer.

He was born December 16, 1923, at Castana, Iowa, to Clifford C. and Mary J. (Gilkerson) Jordan.

During World War II, he served his country with the U.S. Army. On November 26, 1943, he married Cecil E. Kratz at Turin, Iowa. He was custodian at Maple Valley Community School from September 1958 until retiring in May 1985.

He was a member of Castana Community Church, the Grimsley-Thayer American Legion Post No. 502 at Castana and had served on the Castana Town Council for four years.

Survivors include his wife, Cecil; one son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Shirley Jordan of Blair, Nebraska; one daughter and a son-in-law, Michael and Rita Apel of Marshalltown, Iowa; and three grandchildren, Rick and his wife, Tammy, Steven Jordan and Matthew Apel.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Clara Mae Davies.

Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 21, 1986, at the Castana Community Church, Castana, Iowa, with Rev. Richard Hempenius officiating. The organist, Mrs. Paul Petersen, played “How Great Thou Art” and “In The Garden.”

Casket bearers were George Davis, Mike Golden, Jack Jordan, Fran Jordan, Kent Parr and Ernest Rickabaugh.

Interment was in the Kennebec Cemetery, Castana, Iowa, with Military Graveside Services by Grimsley-Thayer American Legion Post No. 502, Castana, Iowa, Gilbert Gotto, Commander. Arrangements were by Pearson Funeral Home, Onawa, Iowa.
