Addaline Catherine Mander, 88, Whiting, Iowa, died June 20, 1986, at Burgess Memorial Hospital in Onawa, Iowa, after a brief illness.
She was born June 8, 1898, in Murray, Nebraska, to James and Dora (Hostetter) Darrough. On December 31, 1914, she married Leonard Mander at Walthill, Nebraska. She lived in Omaha until her marriage when she moved to Walthill. She had lived at Whiting for the last 60 years and at Pleasant View Nursing Home for the last 3 ½ years. Mr. Mander died in November, 1953, at Onawa.
She was a member of Whiting Church of Christ and its Dorcas Society. She was also a member of Emery Johnson American Legion Post No. 481 at Whiting and was a Gold Star Mother.
Survivors include: one daughter, Mrs. Bill (Louisa) Templeton of whiting, one son, James of Denison, nine grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and 22 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two sons in infancy, one son, Loren, died in World War II, one daughter, Bernice Selby, two brothers, one sister, one granddaughter and one great-grandchild.
Services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, June 23, 1986, at the Church of Christ at Whiting at Whiting with Evangelist Rusty Hedger officiating. The organist, Mrs. Arnold Brenden, played the selection “There’s Room At The Cross For You.” The selection “It Is Well With My Soul” was sung by Mrs. Arnold Brenden and Jan Brenden.
Bearers were Ervin Mander, Earl Mander, Elroy Mander, Ed Fors, Elliott Gulick and S.T. Skidmore.
Interment was in the Whiting Cemetery at Whiting, Iowa, with arrangements by the Pearson Funeral Home, Onawa, Iowa.
