Henry Johnston, 86, Onawa, Iowa, died May 16,1986, at Burgess Memorial Hospital, Onawa, Iowa, after a long illness.

He was born March 10, 1900, in rural Blencoe, Iowa, to James and Dora (Collins) Johnston. He attended school in Blencoe. On June 30, 1927, he married Maybel Templeton at Blencoe. The couple lived on various farms in Monona County until moving to Onawa in 1982. He was a farmer, self employed in the implement business, and a "Jack of all Trades".

He was a member of Congregational United Church of Christ where he was active as a Deacon, and a member of Vesper Masonic Lodge No. 222, both of Onawa.

Survivors include his wife, Maybel; two brothers, J.B. of Onawa; and George of Mondamin; and a number of relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and two sisters.

Services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 19, 1986, at the United Church of Christ Congregational at Onawa with Rev. Donald Stoll officiating. Mrs. Jack Jordan, the organist, played "How Great Thou Art" and "What A Friend".

Bearers were Harvey Hansen, Duane Fredrickson, Gene Martindale, Gerald Davis, Ralph Wickersham and Jim Jensen.

Interment was in the Onawa Cemetery with arrangements by the Pearson Funeral Home, Onawa, Iowa.
