Myrtle M. Holverson 1896 - 1986

Myrtle M. Holverson, lifelong resident of the Soldier area, died on May 20, 1986, at St. Luke's Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa. She had reached the age of 89 years, 5 months and 18 days.

She was born in Jordan Township near Soldier on December 2, 1896. On June 28, 1913, she married Oscar Holverson in Ottawa. The couple farmed in Jordan Township until they moved into Soldier in 1952 Mr. Holverson died November 24, 1968. Myrtle continued to make her home in Soldier until moving to Maple Heights Nursing Home in Mapleton seven years ago.

She was a member of the Soldier Lutheran Church, a charter member of the Soldier Lutheran Church Women and a member of the Jordan Birthday Club.

Survivors include her four daughters, Mrs. Irene Hadden and Mrs. Helen Heck, both of Soldiers; Mrs. Don (Charlotte) Samson of Fort Collins, Colo., and Mrs. Leo (Betty) Stanislav of Blencoe; one son and daughter-in-law, Glen and Barbara Holverson of Soldier and one daughter-in-law, Edna Holverson, of Moorhead; 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, LaVerne; five brothers and five sisters.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m., Friday, May 23,1986, at Soldier Lutheran Church, Soldier, Iowa, with Rev Larry Sydow officiating. The organist was Mrs. Ivan Gibbs and the soloist, Mrs. Fred Gibson, sang, "The Old Rugged Cross" and "My Mother".

Honorary bearers were Maynard Holverson, Larry Samson, Harvey Hadden, Randy Stanislav, and Todd Stanislav.

Casket bearers were Danny Stanislav, Doug Holverson, Harold Hadden, Clayton Holverson, Michael Heck, and Dick Samson.

Interment was in the Jordan Cemetery, Soldier, Iowa, with arrangements by Pearson Funeral Home, Soldier, Iowa.
