Walter I. Carrier, 94, of Onawa, Iowa passed away at his home on Monday, June 20, 2016 with his beloved wife, Deloris, by his side.

Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday, June 25, 2016 at Rush Family Chapel in Onawa, Iowa with Evangelist Dale Wolf, officiating. Burial will be in the Onawa Cemetery, Onawa, Iowa. Visitation will be 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Friday, June 24, 2016 at Rush Family Chapel in Onawa, Iowa with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service in Onawa, Iowa.

Walter Ivan was born on July 20, 1921 in rural Onawa, Iowa, the son of Jesse and Emma (Weidt) Carrier. He graduated from Onawa High School in 1942.

Walter and Deloris Crabb were united in marriage on August 21, 1945 at Ida Grove, Iowa and he remained devoted to his beloved bride for over 70 years. Four children were born to this union, Diana, Danny, Mitch, and Jo Ann.

After graduating from high school, he worked on a farm with his father. Later he graduated from NBT. He then worked for Bellis Hess in the accounting department and also for Williams & Company tax firm. Eventually, he went back to custom farming and worked with anhydrous for 21 years and prepared income tax for 27 years. He was also employed part-time as a bookkeeper at Low's Implement in Onawa, Iowa.

Walter was a member of the Reorganized Church of Latter Day Saints in Onawa, IA.

He loved flowers and visiting with people. He was a hard worker who was devoted to his family. Dancing, going to movies, completing puzzles with his children, and watching All-Star Wrestling on television were only a few of his favorite things.

Survivors include his wife of over 70 years, Deloris Carrier, of Onawa, IA; three children, Diana (Jim) Morgan of Bellevue, NE, Mitch (Wanda) Carrier of Onawa, IA, and Jo Ann (Dean) DuVal of Lebanon, OH; eleven grandchildren, Adam (Lori) Steward, Melanie (Al) Milledge, Geri (Jacob) Mann, Chris Carrier, Gail (Ken) Baxter, Wendy (Risty) Bryce, Travis Carrier, Douglas DuVal, Dennis DuVal, Darren (Kristin) DuVal, and Deanne (Bryan) Jacobs; twelve great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Walter was preceded in death by his parents; son, Danny Carrier; two brothers; and two sisters.
