31 March 1983Clemmens Arthur Martindale, age 64, of Odessa, Texas, formerly of Onawa, Iowa, died on Monday, March 14, 1983 in Amarillo, Texas from injuries he received when he was struck by an automobile.
He was born February 10, 1919, in Mapleton, Iowa the son of Wesley and Sarah Godall Martindale. He married Audrey Chedester December 28, 1942, in Soldier, Iowa. He was a long time resident of Monona County and had farmed near Mapleton. He had lived in Texas for the past 15 years and was a member of the Methodist faith.
Survivors include his wife, Audrey, of Onawa; one son, Norman of Onawa; two daughters, Mrs. James (Jeanette) West and Joyce Martindale, both of Omaha, Nebraska; one brother, Glenn of Castana, Iowa; two sisters, Ina Phoebe Smith of Mapleton, Iowa and Frances Baker of Sioux City and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Viola and Alma and two brothers, Leo and Merrill.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 22, 1983 at the Pearson Funeral Home, Onawa, Iowa, with Rev. Herbert Foxworthy officiating. The organist was Mrs. Vince Phillips and the soloist, Mrs. Fred Gibson, sang “The Old Rugged Cross” and “Just A Closer Walk With Thee.”
Casket bearers were Randy Martindale, Rick Martindale, Gary Martindale, Joe Martindale, Beecher Lamb and Bradley Martindale.
Interment was in the Onawa Cemetery, Onawa, Iowa with arrangements by Pearson Funeral Home, Onawa, Iowa.
