Maurice B. Jensen, age 83, of Castana, died Monday, January 22, 1996 at Mapleton, Iowa.

Services were held 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Castana Community Church in Castana with
Pastor Patricia Preusz and Pastor Richard Hempenius officiating. Burial was in Kennebec
Cemetery, Castana, Iowa.

Patsy Petersen was the organist for the service and Bob Jones, soloist, sang "How Great Thou
Art" also Laurie Jensen, soloist, sang "I Know Who Holds Tomorrow." The congregation
Sang "In The Garden" and "Beyond The Sunset."

A Masonic service was held on Wednesday, at 7:00 p.m. followed by a prayer service at the Armstrong Chapel in Mapleton.

Maurice B. Jensen was born July 28, 1912, on a farm near Moorhead, Iowa, the son of Jens and Dagmar (Nickolaisen) Jensen. At the age of 2 years he moved with his parents to the farm near Castana, Iowa, where he lived and farmed his entire life. He graduated from Castana High School. On June 3, 1936, he was united in marriage to Charlotte Parr in Charles City, Iowa.

Maurice was a member of the Danish Lutheran Church Scottish Rite Bodies, Abu Bekr
Shrine Temple, White Horse Mounted Patrol, and a 50 year member of Hillcrest Masonic Lodge and Old Fellows. He also served on the Castana and County School Boards, Maple Heights Nursing Home Board, Western Iowa Telephone Board, Federal Land Bank, Western Iowa Tech Community College Board, Burgess Memorial Hospital Board and Monona County Fair Board.

Survivors include his wife, Charlotte; a son, Jim and his wife, Barb of Onawa, Iowa; three daughters and their husbands, Karen and Bob Jones of Wakefield, Nebraska, Rita and Merrill Hawthorne of Lohrville, Iowa, and Janet and Mike Erwin of New Virginia, Iowa; a sister, Alice Larsen of Mapleton: 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Maurice was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Maurice "Sonny" Jensen, a daughter-in-law, Wanda Jensen, and a sister, Iva Barrett.

Honorary pallbearers were Irven Walter, Pete McDonough, Les Dobrovolny, Heinie Jones, Al Palmer, Gary Thies, Bob Knowler and Sam Mann.

Pallbearers were grandsons, Brad Jones, Barry Jones, Richard Erwin, David Jensen, Mark Hawthorne, Michael Erwin and Maurie Erwin.

Arrangements were made under the direction of the Armstrong Funeral Home of Mapleton.
