Loyd H. Fletcher, 87. Lifelong resident of the Onawa area, died March 24, 1986, at Burgess Memorial Hospital, Onawa, Iowa.

He was born March 21, 1899, on the family farm west of Onawa to Reed and Nancy (Williams) Fletcher. On March 1, 1934, he was married to Edna V. Swanson at Sioux City, Iowa. She died March 2, 1967, in rural Onawa.

He farmed from 1921 until retiring in 1967 and resided on the family farm all of his life.

Survivors include; one daughter, Mrs. Robert (Phyllis) Cummins of Onawa; one son, Herbert Loyd of Denver, Colo.; eight grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, two sisters, Elma Lineberg and Eva; one brother, Clyde; and one great granddaughter.

Services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 26, 1986, at the First Christian Church at Onawa with Rev. Jerry Quandt officiating. Mrs. Vince Phillips, the organist, accompanied Mrs. Fred Gibson who sang “In The Garden” and “Beyond The Sunset.”

Honorary Bearers were Gary Fletcher, Terry Fletcher, Richard Fletcher, Brad Cummins, Mike Cummins, Kevin Cavanaugh, Brandon Cummins, Chad Dickers and Glen Olsen.

Active Bearers were Henry Lund, Roger Lund, George Beck, Gordon Conway, Alva Riley and Jim Beck.

Interment was in Harrison Cemetery at Whiting, Iowa, with arrangements by the Pearson Funeral Home, Onawa, Iowa.
