Anita E. Lown, 87, of Harrisburg, SD died Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at Bethany Lutheran Home in Sioux Falls, SD. Her memorial service will be 10:30 AM Saturday, April 9 at Harrisburg United Methodist Church. Burial of the urn will be at Kennebec Cemetery, Castana, IA at a later date. Visitation begins at 5:00 PM Friday, April. 8 at George Boom Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Sioux Falls, where the family will greet friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.

Anita Ella Bauer, daughter of Herman and Emma (Schlobohm) Bauer, was born March 1, 1929 in Rice County, MN. She was one of twelve children. Anita was raised in Hill City, MN and graduated from high school there.

Anita married James Villebro on March 12, 1949 in Hill City, MN. The couple was blessed with seven children, John, Patricia, Jim, Katherine, Cindy, Suzann and Eric. Anita and James worked on dairy farms in Minnesota, Wisconsin and Iowa.

Anita married Wendall Lown on August 28, 1982 in Castana, IA. The couple made their home in Castana. Anita was a hard worker and enjoyed making people laugh. She loved playing cards and sewing. She was a very good square dancer. Anita was famous for her cooking and baking, especially her kolaches. In addition, she enjoyed writing poetry. She also wrote editorials and square dance news for local newspapers.

Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Wendall; six children, John Villebro and his wife, Trish, Hornick, IA, Pat Richardson and her husband, Jim, Fairmont, MN, Jim Villebro and his wife, Karen, Freeport, IL, Cindy Nelson and her husband, Gary, Van Horne, IA, Suzie Aldrich and her husband, Bruce, Harrisburg, SD, Eric Villebro and Dawn Ennis, Elkhorn, NE; 13 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; two sisters, Evelyn Rudenick, Mankato, MN, Laura Parduhn, Cannon Falls, MN; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Anita was preceded in death by a daughter, Katherine “Kitty” Villebro; her first husband, James; her parents; three brothers, Eugene, Delbert and Harlan; and six sisters, Elvera, Renata, Emma, Malena, Elizabeth and Luella.
