ADAMS— At the Iowa Hospital for the Insane at Independence, Saturday morning, January 31, 1880, of cerebral meningitis, Andrew Adams, age 20 years.

This is indeed a very sad affliction to the family and relatives of the deceased. About one month ago Andrew became insane, and for many days all that loving hands and medical skill could accomplish for his restoration to reason at home was done, but in vain; as a last resort he was taken to the Hospital at Independence in the hopes that he might regain his health.

Friday morning, January 21, Sheriff Walker stayed with him, placing him in the Hospital on Saturday. The next Friday Dr. Reynolds wrote that Andrew was very sick, but that if he rallied from this sickness that strong hopes might be entertained to his recovery.

Early the next morning, however death released him from his suffering. The remains were sent to this place for Interment, and the funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon by Rev. C N. Lyman.

The attendances at the funeral were remarkably large, and could not but prove to the friends of the deceased that they had in their hour of affliction, the heartfelt sympathies of the entire community.
