Gloria Jean Larsen, "Jean", 75, of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, February 23, 2016, at her own home.

Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, February 29, 2016, at Mitchell Family Funeral Home with Pastor Bobby Shomo officiating. Public visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 28, 2016, at Mitchell Family Funeral Home where her family will be present to greet friends. Following services, the family will be having a private graveside service at Riverside Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed in Jean’s name to her family.

Gloria Jean Butler was born on July 2, 1940, in Onawa, Iowa, the daughter of Wayne Reed and Viola Lucille (Heller) Butler. She was raised and educated in the Onawa school district, graduating from Onawa High School with the class of 1958. On October 10, 1958, Jean was united in marriage to the love of her life Milo “Mike” Vance Larsen, in Onawa, Iowa. From this union three children were born: Kent, Sheri and Julie.

When Jean was first married she was employed at the Onawa Courthouse as the assistant to the Clerk of Court. Her next job was as full-time mother and homemaker. Jean's greatest passion in life was home and family. Through out high school and beyond she enjoyed playing and watching basketball. She also enjoyed gardening, Scrabble, site seeing trips in the family motor home, bird watching, car rides around the community, her iPad and making sure her kids felt special on their birthdays.

Left to cherish Jean's memory is her husband, Mike Larsen; three children: Kent (Ruth) Larsen, Sheri Larsen and Julie Larsen (Tom Harrold); two grandchildren: Craig and Lily Larsen. Also many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents: Wayne Reed and Viola Lucille (Heller) Butler; brother: Dick Butler (Doris); maternal grandparents: John and Anna (Johnson) Heller and paternal grandparents: Richard and Mary Ann (Reed) Butler.
