2 March 2016Rick L. Straight, 66, of Soldier, Iowa passed away Friday, February 26, 2016 at Elmwood Care Centre in Onawa, Iowa.
Funeral services will be 1:30 P.M. Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at the Soldier Lutheran Church in Soldier, Iowa with Pastor Joel Gueningsman, officiating. Burial will be in the Soldier Lutheran Cemetery, Soldier, Iowa. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service in Onawa, Iowa.
Rickey Loyd was born on September 12, 1949 in Sioux City, Iowa, the son of Loyd and Eloise (Hanson) Straight. He attended Soldier Consolidated School in Soldier, Iowa and then attended school at Livermore where he graduated from Livermore High School.
He operated Straight's Restorations in Union, Iowa.
He enjoyed participating in saddle bronco and team roping in rodeos. He also built and raced sprint cars and more recently vintage race cars.
He was a member of Soldier Lutheran Church in Soldier, Iowa where he was also baptized.
Rick is survived by his sister, Dawn Baughman of Livermore, CA, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
