WHITING, Iowa | A. Jeanne Neldeberg, 93, of Whiting passed away Saturday, Feb. 20, 2016, at Burgess Health Center in Onawa, Iowa.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Rush Family Care Service in Onawa, with the Rev. Reva B. Karstens officiating. Burial will be in Whiting City Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, at the funeral home.

A. (Anita) Jeanne was born on June 18, 1922, in Laurel, Neb., the daughter of James Blaine and Bertie B. (Price) Bessire. She resided in Laurel, El Paso, Texas, Sioux City, and Denison, Iowa. She graduated from Denison High School. She then attended Simpson College and Wayne State College. She taught elementary and junior high in Wall Lake, Iowa, Quimby, Iowa, and Sioux City. Jeanne graduated from the medical tech course at St. Joseph Hospital in Sioux City and later worked there.

Jeanne and Aage E. Neldeberg were united in marriage on Nov. 28, 1947, in Cherokee, Iowa. They lived on a farm near Whiting. In 1980, they started Ansco Seed Company in Whiting, where she worked several years in the office. Aage passed away on Oct. 12, 1991. As a memorial to her husband, who was called, "Papa Bear" by the family, she furnished teddy bears for the Burgess Health Center Emergency Room, Rescue Units, and to the Monona County Sheriff's Department.

Jeanne belonged to Eastern Star, served on the Rainbow Advisory Board, the Daughters of the Nile, the Abu Bekr Wreckettes, St. Luke's Auxiliary, and was a St. Luke's volunteer.

Survivors include two daughters, Ann Katherine (Ronald) Davis of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Peggy Jeanne Briggs of Salisbury, Md.; one son, Kurt Aage (Laura) Neldeberg of Whiting; grandchildren, Krystine Reavis, Julie Benshoof, Kimberley White, Michael Briggs, Andrew Neldeberg, Christian Neldeberg, and Annika Neldeberg; great-grandchildren, Mican and Janea Vollan, Miranda, Landon, and Kassandra Benshoof, Maddie White, and Isabel Hudson; and one sister, Mildred Dray of Northridge, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Aage; her parents; two sisters and brothers-in-law; and son-in-law, John Briggs.
