John Holck, Jr., 95 years of Fremont, Nebraska died Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at Dunklau Gardens in Fremont. John was born in Paullina, Iowa on September 13, 1920 to John J. and Alvina B. (Peters) Holck.

He grew up in Paullina and graduated from Paullina High School. John married Alice Brenner on September 12, 1942 in Sioux City, Iowa. She preceded him in death August 3, 2015. He was in the US Army from December 1, 1942 until October 25, 1945 during World War II. He served at Rhineland and Ardennes, Battle of the Bulge in Central Europe. He moved to Sioux City, Iowa and Smithland, Iowa where he farmed. He moved back to Sioux City and managed a Radio Shack store until retiring. They traveled for several years after retiring until they moved to Fremont in 2005. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Fremont, former member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Sioux City, Iowa, American Legion Post #666 at Smithland, Iowa.

He is survived by his sons, John and wife, Sharon Holck of Fremont and Lee and wife, Sherrie Holck of Apple Valley, Minnesota; brother, Donald and wife, Donna Holck of LeMars, Iowa; sister, Uneva and husband, Curtiss Berntson of Paullina, Iowa; four grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Alice; three sisters and one brother.

Graveside committal service with military honors will be 1:00 P.M, Saturday, January 23, 2016 at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Mapleton, Iowa. Deacon Ray Rosburg of St. Mary’s Catholic Church will officiate.

Memorials may be directed to St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Fremont.
