Curtis Guy Richardson, 48, of Onawa, Iowa, passed away Sunday, February 14, 2016 at his home surrounded by family after a long battle with brain cancer.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday, February 19, 2016 at Whiting Christian Church, Whiting, Iowa, with Pastor Josh Weece officiating. Visitation will be held 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. Thursday, February 18, 2016 at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service in Onawa.

Curtis Guy was born May 22, 1967 in Onawa, son of Guy Dean and Shirley (Nelson) Richardson. He grew up in Whiting and graduated from Whiting High School in 1985. He then went to work with his father and brother for E. A. Pedersen Construction in Omaha as a lineman for several years. He was currently employed with the City of Onawa in the electrical department, where he had worked for the past 18 years.

Curtis and Shannon Barnett were united in marriage September 3, 2005 in Onawa.

He greatly enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and anything to do with the outdoors. He spent a lot of time riding Harley Davidson motorcycles in his younger years. His dogs, Jake and Montana Jack, were always faithful companions. He loved drinking beer, especially at O'Neill's Tavern in Onawa, and being with his friends. Most of all, he loved to spend time with his grandsons.

Survivors include his wife, Shannon Richardson of Onawa, IA; two daughters, Brittany Wensel of Woodbine, IA and Dezerea (Jesse Knapp) Richardson of Onawa, IA; step-son, Jake Johnson of Decatur, NE; two grandsons, Kash and Kole Gares of Woodbine, IA; his mother, Shirley Richardson of Whiting, IA; mother-in-law, Darlene Barnett of Onawa, IA; siblings, Rhonda (Don) Gomez of Whiting, IA, Steve (Sandy) Richardson of Whiting, IA, Gordon (Glenda) Richardson of Whiting, IA, Helen Richardson (Scott Schechinger) of Manilla, IA, and Scott (Charlene) Richardson of Whiting, IA; his dogs, Jake and Montana Jack; as well as many other relatives and good friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Guy Dean Richardson; paternal grandparents, Walter and Helen Richardson; paternal step-grandfather, George Bowman; and a stepson, Lucas Johnson.
