Sarah Louise Gingles, the daughter of Dr. E. E. Gingles and Sarah Francis (Kolp) Gingles, was brought into this world by her grandfather, Dr. W. W. Gingles on June 28, 1925 in Castana, Iowa.

Louise grew up in Castana, Iowa and attended high school in Onawa. She left school early, eager to get to college and learn more. She was a member of the "Grammer Girls" at Morningside College in Sioux City, IA, where her aunt, Lillian Dimmit, was Dean of Students. Morningside's Dimmit Hall was named after this much admired aunt. Louise graduated from the University of Iowa, where she was a member of the Iowa Mountaineers. She traveled with the Mountaineers to the Grand Tetons in an open semi-truck playing her accordion for their entertainment. Shortly after World War II, Louise went to Europe to meet with her German pen pal, Annalie Biermann, and traveled throughout Europe in the post war countries, and they remained friends all of their lives.
On June 8, 1951, Louise was united in marriage at the Little Brown Church in the Vale, Nashua, IA, to John Donald Falk of Blencoe, IA. Louise and John made their home on the Falk farm northeast of Blencoe. She taught school and subbed at various schools throughout Monona County, including Blencoe, Onawa, Whiting, and Moorhead. The family moved to Onawa when their girls where in high school.

Louise was active in both the Blencoe and Onawa Congregational Churches, and a member of numerous organizations including, P.E.O., the Iowa Library Association, and too many others to list. She was an accomplished pianist and often played for the nursing homes in Onawa and Whiting. Louise was very active in the formulation of the Onawa Museum. She was a Friend of the Lewis and Clark Discovery campaign, helping behind the scenes with the building of the keelboat, and being a greeter for the Lewis and Clark Park Festival at Blue Lake for many years. She loved her students and got the most enjoyment out of teaching German, and sharing her stories with her students about her exploits and adventures in Germany and other places around the world, where she had traveled.

Louise is survived by her daughters, Sarah Elizabeth Biggs and husband, Steve of Phoenix, AZ and Linelle Kristine Richard DuMond of Castana,IA and ex-husband, Deorais Richard of San Antonio, TX and husband Barry DuMond of Castana, IA; three grandchildren, Sarah Katherine Biggs of Maui, HI, Sean Robert Biggs of Phoenix, AZ, and Annise DeNelle Richard of Statesboro, GA; one brother, Donald Gingles and wife Marilyn of Palm Coast, FL; several nieces and nephews; other relatives, and many friends.
Louise was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. E. E. Gingles and Sarah Francis (Kolp) Gingles; her loving husband, John Falk; her brother, Willy Gingles and his wife Marlene; and nephews, Mark Gingles and David Gingles.
Louise will be missed by many.
