14 November 1895

On Monday evening, November 11, 1895, death closed the earthly career of Mrs. Charlotte Anderson, the aged wife of Charles Anderson, Sr. at her home on Fourth Street. Cancer of the stomach is given as the immediate cause of her death.

Mrs. Anderson was born in Oldesloe, Germany in 1824 and was married to Charles Anderson 1847. In 1867 they emigrated to this country, settling at Lyons, this state, where Mr. Anderson was engaged in the mercantile business until about ten years ago, when they came to Mapleton, where they have since resided. She was the mother of four children three of whom survive her, namely, Chas Anderson of this place, Adolph Anderson of Odebolt and Mrs. Hermann Groth of Sac City, all of whom were present at the funeral.

The deceased was one of the most kind and loving old ladies we ever met. Having lived a near neighbor to her last year, we have had many occasions to enjoy her hearty generosity and have watched with pleasure her gentle disposition and pleasant manners. She had long been a member of the Lutheran Church. The funeral was conducted from the house, Wednesday afternoon, and the remains deposited in Mt Hope Cemetery. The aged husband and sorrowing relatives have our sympathy in their hour of affliction.
