Rudolph J. Albertsen, 88, of Mapleton died Wednesday, October 9, 1985, in a Sioux City hospital after a brief illness.

Services were at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in St. Peter's United Church of Christ in Mapleton. The Rev. Richard Hempenius officiated. Burial was in Mount Hope Cemetery. A prayer service was at 7:30 p.m. Friday in the Walter Funeral Home in Mapleton.

Mr. Albertsen was born May 1, 1897 to John and Catherine (Hansen) Albertsen in Cooper Township, near Mapleton. The family lived at Eagle Butte, South Dakota, from 1911-1913, then returned to Mapleton. He married Esther Neubaum October 12, 1920, at Dakota City. They farmed near Mapleton until 1944, and north of Smithland until 1960, when they retired to town.

Mr. Albertsen was a member of United Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.

Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Fred (Elizabeth) Stodden of Mapleton; two sons, Loren J. of Des Moines and Willis H. of Derby, Kansas; 13 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Iliff Larson, Wayne Gosch, Claude Dean, Dale Campbell, Herman Bockelmann and Arlis Larson.
