Frank Detlef Passick, son of Detlef and Sophia Passick was born October 4, 1885 at Arcadia, Iowa, and died July 19, 1967 at a Sioux City hospital having reached the age of 81 years, nine months and 15 days.

As a small boy he lived on a farm with his parents, later they moved to a farm near Mapleton. Mr. Passick’s occupation was farming. In 1911 he was married to Katherine Schneekloth. To this union was born 1 son. Mrs. Passick died in 1917. On August 19, 1933 he was married to Alvena Block in Mapleton and they were blessed with 1 daughter.

Mr. Passick farmed near Mapleton until his retirement in 1937 when he moved into the town of Mapleton.

He was a Charter member of the St. Peter’s United Church of Christ, at Mapleton and was on the church board and treasurer for many years. He was also on the school board in Cooper Township for many years. He was baptized and confirmed during his youth.

Survivors include his wife Alvena, of Mapleton; one son, Hurtmut D. Passick, of Vermillion, South Dakota; and one daughter, Mrs. August (Bernice) Waderich of Castana, Iowa; 3 sisters, Mrs. Gabriele Harder of Wolsey, South Dakota, Mrs. Theo Kuehl of Mapleton and Mrs. Anna Clausen of Schaller, Iowa; 6 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, and one brother.

Services were held July 22, 1967 at the United Church of Christ in Mapleton with Pastor Walter Stark officiating. Pallbearers were Louis Koeppen, Edwin Clausen, Marvin Sonksen, Laurence Martin, Ernest McNeil, and Fred Anderson. Burial was in Mt. Hope Cemetery under the direction of the Walter Funeral Home of Mapleton.
