Walter Eugene Greenough was born on April 9, 1916 at Castana, Iowa and died in a Sioux City hospital on July 20, 1967 at the age of 51 years, 3 months and 11 days.

On February 20, 1938 he was united in marriage to Bernadine Tollufson in Soldier, Iowa.
Walter had been a lifelong resident of the Soldier and Moorhead communities and had been engaged in farming. He was a member of the Bethesda Lutheran Church in Moorhead.

Survivors include his wife, Bernadine; one son, Randy, one daughter, Katherine, both of Moorhead; and two sisters, Mrs. Oscar Hanson of Rodney, Iowa and Mrs. Vernon Mauch of Castana, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister.

The funeral services were held on July 22 at 2 p.m. at the Bethesda Lutheran Church in Moorhead. Pastor Harold K. Koehler conducted the service. Pallbearers were James and Ronald Mauch, Leonard Hanson, Roger, Eugene and Lyle Greenough. Interment was in the Mt. Hope Cemetery at Mapleton with arrangements by the Pearson Funeral Home of Soldier, Iowa.
